About Me
In Bhaskar Kathroju’s artistic journey, his inborn affinity for fine arts has worked like a catalyst. Born in Nalgonda district in Telangana, India. He imbibed an innate fascination and liking for drawing and painting. And so, he engaged himself with a lot of creative activities during childhood. When young he got the opportunity to explore and understand the work of many artists, in the vicinity of his hometown, whom he observed with awe and admiration.
After completing his graduate studies in Commerce from Osmania University, his love for drawing took him to working as an illustrator and artist for an important Telugu newspaper which gets published from Hyderabad. While working there he was exposed to multiple creative endeavors, like illustrations for articles and books.
In 2013 he moved to U.S and continued working as a freelance artist, muralist and art teacher for students and art enthusiasts belonging to all age groups.
MY JOUNERY
He works with varied media like, acrylic, water colours and oil paints. Just as he loves to work in diverse material, he likes to explore varied concepts and ideas in his work. Portraits, landscapes, figurative /representational as well as abstract depictions form the core of his expression.
Bhaskar cherishes the visual memories of his hometown close to his heart and impressions of such imagery often get transferred into his work. He absorbed every detail and essence from his surroundings from India which have become an innate and indispensable part of his being and get reflected in his art strongly.
His colour palette is flamboyant and amalgamates bright hues and thus reverberates a strong Indian essence. The ‘line’ is stark and clear and encompasses the flat application of colour within its periphery. His stylization includes abbreviation of realistic forms, human figures, flora etc., into simple, geometrical shapes and patterns.
Like, one of his works, a triptych, depicts a village scene from Southern parts of India. It exemplifies every visual aspect that forms the very core of such rural setting. The landscape in the background, people engrossed in varied mundane chores, beautiful abodes, and a lake, altogether combine to make for a complete rural allegory.
While talking about his work, Bhaskar quotes some more aspects about his artistic journey,” I am a self-taught artist, but I have had brief academic training in fine arts from JNTU, Hyderabad and CCAD Columbus, Ohio. My work is a reflection of my memories of my homeland and I attempt to recreate them on my medium of expression.
I am very fortunate to have been blessed with a family that supports my passion for fine arts and I look forward to exploring some more media and concepts in the upcoming years.”
